As many may get frightened because of a wrong belief of impossibilities and thought of lack of finances, we present to you a very pocket-friendly 7-day safari to three gifted destinations in Kenya namely, the Masai Mara, home to a good selection of all wildlife species, Lake Nakuru which is a birding spectacle as well as Amboseli National pack, situated at the backdrop of a magnificent Mount Kilimanjaro.
In this budget safari, you will sleep in budget accommodation and affordable camping tents, cut off transport costs by using very cost-effective yet safe transportation and manage time. The journey starts and ends in Nairobi and it entails a game drive, scenic viewing, photography and cultural encounters.
Detailed Trip
Day one: Pickup and city tour
On this day, activities and the entire trip mostly depends on how good you are at time management. However, our company representative will pick you up upon your arrival at the airport, going ahead to brief you on what you have to expect during the entire trip home away from home.
Followed by city tour as soon as the briefing is done, visit the Museum, local markets where you will buy the essential items for the trip and so on. Lunch will be during the trip before checking into your accommodations for a feast and overnight.
Day Two: Transfer to Masai Mara for game viewing
After having a very tasty cup of coffee at the hotel, your driver-guide will pick you up for a 4-5-hour drive to Masai Mara National Park, top travel destination, co-host of the annual wildebeest migration and an extension of Serengeti national in Tanzania.
The drive will have the first stop at the magnificent Great Rift Valley for photography and sightseeing, then another in the Narok center for lunch before proceeding to the park, where you will arrive in the evening.
Go for a 3-hour sunset game drive to view not only the nocturnal animals but also several mammals such as the lions, leopards, and hyenas hunting or resting along the tracking trails. Afterwards, you will return for dinner as you have a campfire and later on overnight.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and afternoon cultural experience
Early in the morning, start your day with a cup of coffee before driving off to the open savannah plains of Masai Mara, hosting not only different birds and tree species but also Africa’s big five (lions, leopards, elephants, Cape Buffalos, and Rhinos), Zebras, Antelopes, cheetahs, and the wildebeests among others.
The 3-4 hours’ game drive is accompanied by bush breakfast as you feed your eyes, then proceed to watch the crocodiles and hippos yawning and bathing in Mara river that hosts the wildebeests’ migration action as they cross from the Serengeti to Mara for water and fresh pasture.
After spotting aquatic animals, drive back to the lodge for lunch and a small nap before heading out to the nearby community for an authentic cultural experience with the Masai people who will teach you how to use some traditional tools such as the spears, bows, and arrow. They also entertain you with some traditional dances till sunset. Drive back to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Day Four: Depart Masai Mara for Lake Nakuru
Have a robust breakfast, and then drive to Lake Nakuru national park, a point where you will switch your attention from mammals to birds. The journey will last for roughly 3-4 hours while enjoying scenic views of the rolling hills, the Great Rift Valley, green plantations and scattered local homesteads.
As you arrive in the evening, rest a bit before having a simple nature walk, or game viewing if time permits as you wait for dinner and rest at night.
Day Five: birding experience and Transfer to Nairobi
Start your day with an early morning cup of coffee before heading out to the shores of Lake Nakuru for a 4-5-hour birding experience where you will view and take photos with several flamingos and other birds relaxing, feeding and playing by the shores of Lake Nakuru.
Return to the camp, pick everything that belongs to you and drive to Nairobi with an en-route Lunch. Arrive at Nairobi late in the evening for dinner and rest as you wait for the next day’s transfer to Amboseli National Park
Day Six: Drive to Amboseli National park and afternoon game drive
Greet your intestines with a hot cup of coffee early in the morning before checking out of the lodge and driving off to Amboseli national park, located at the border of Kenya and Tanzania, beneath the snowcapped Mountain Kilimanjaro. The park is famous for its large herds of Elephants, swampy springs, wetlands, and mixture of vast woodland and savannah grassland. Lunch will be served enroute.
You will arrive in the evening, have an evening game drive where you will be searching for various mammals including the zebras, wild dogs, leopards, cheetahs, lions and many more before retiring to your bed after dinner.
Day seven: Morning game drive in Amboseli National park and departure
This is our last day of the safari, so after breakfast, you will head out to the wilderness on game drive opportunity as you watch the beautiful sunrise rise, the eye-catching snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro as well as a chance to spot several mammals such as the Giraffes, Zebras, Buffaloes, cheetahs, elephants among others, rare plant species and over 600 bird species.
When the game drive is done, drive back to the park for lunch, after, check out of the lodge and drive back to Nairobi for your flight to the next destination
