Trek the remaining mountain gorillas on the foothills of Virunga ranges and in one of the famous national parks in Uganda (Bwindi Impenetrable National park). Also visit the local communities around this park such as Batwa and Bakiga.
Take a tour to Lake Bunyonyi which is known to be a lake of small birds with beautiful birds where it got its name. It has over 29 beautiful iconic islands that offer a serene landscape.
Day 1: Travel to Bwindi national park in south western Uganda
Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in south western Uganda which is well famous for harbouring almost half number of the remaining endangered mountain gorillas. The journey is a wonderful experience that covers a distance of over 450km hence taking 5-7 hours’ drive.
The park also harbours other animals like elephants, red tailed monkeys, white and black colobus monkeys, Vervet monkeys and also birds like Rwenzori night jar, speckled mouse bird, black kite, white-napped among others.
You will have the first stopover at Kayabwe to take photos at the equator monument; undertake a geographical experiment and purchase some souvenirs on the equator and another one in Mbarara town for lunch. Later, proceed with the journey through the Kigezi hills and farmlands dotted with Ankole cattle. Arrive and check in the accommodation facility in late evening.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi and cultural experience
Trek the remaining endangered species after a short briefing at the park headquarters led by the park ranger guide. Head and penetrate the impenetrable to be able to spot the endangered species, while trekking, you will spot several attractions such as elephants, red tailed monkeys, white and black colobus monkeys, Vervet monkeys and also birds like Rwenzori night jar, speckled mouse bird, black kite, white-napped lapwing, among others.
It’s very hard to determine the trekking time because it depends the site you find these apes but an hour will be allocated to you to enjoy their presence.
In the afternoon after enjoying delicious lunch, you will visit the local community either the Bakiga or Batwa pygmies to learn more about their culture like the traditional dances, music, meals/food among others and this will be the end of the day.
Day 3: Drive to Lake Bunyonyi and canoeing
Wake up early and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi after breakfast where you have another experience in the Switzerland of Africa. The lake got its name from the small birds that live around the shores and amidst the islands.
It is also known for having the 29 islands that offer a spectacular view and are well covered with terraced land scape and this will be encountered while on canoeing. After, relax at the resort to prepare for the next day.
Day 4: Drive back to Kampala
After a relaxed breakfast at the resort as you view the beautiful scenery and after transfer back to Kampala passing through the Kigezi hills that are well terraced. You may visit the Igongo country hotel for a cultural experience to learn more about the Banyankole culture.
Proceed to Kampala where you will be dropped at the hotel or at the airport in Entebbe. End of 4 days gorilla and Lake Bunyonyi tour.
