The excursion takes you to one of the most beautiful national park in Uganda and the smallest of all savannah national parks in the country. The park harbours the impalas and zebras and you can find the long horned cattle of Ankole grazing together with zebras outside the park.
Have a stopover at the equator in Kayabwe where you can do souvenir buying, geographical experiment and photography. The tour continues through the rolling hills of Lyantonde, covered with the cattle farms for Bahima. This one-day tour covers part of the country’s beauty in the most sought after savannah park.
Detailed itinerary
After a cup of coffee or tea, hit Kampala – Masaka-Mbarara highway as you head to Lake Mburo national park – the smallest savannah national in the country. It’s also the nearest national park to Kampala- Uganda’s prime capital and administrative hub; and the only place where you can spot the impalas, and long horned cattle grazing from outside the park with other mammals are zebras, elands, oribis, hyenas, topis, reedbucks, water bucks among others.
The park inhabits 350 bird species or more; some of them include great snipe, Abyssinian ground hornbill, African fish eagle among others. The road trip is rewarding as you pass via the Uganda equator in Kayabwe for a stopover break and experiment. In case you have some money, you can purchase some local crafts such as baskets, African Kitenge, and wood carvings among others.
On arrival, you will continue to the park offices where you receive briefing about the park and head for a game drive that will take 2 hours and lunch at the restaurant which will be followed with a boat cruise to watch the loving species like African fish eagle, crocodiles and hippos as they bask in the afternoon sun.
A boat cruise along Lake Mburo will take 2 hours and immediately transfer back to Kampala followed by the drop off at the hotel or airport and this will be the end of this 1 day Lake Mburo national park tour.
