Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Travel to the Sipi falls in Mbale from Kampala. Community tour in the evening
Travel to Mbale district in eastern Uganda, a journey that will reward you with a lot of eye-catching sites; including Mabira forest that is home to several species of primates like the olive baboons, Vervet monkeys among others, tea and sugar plantations, river Nile, the cable bridge in Jinja among others.
Arrive in Sipi area – a journey that can takes about 5 hours and head at the lodge/ hotel for lunch and for an adventure of Sipi falls hike. Sipi falls got its name from a wild plant called Sep that is found on the banks on river Sipi and this plant is commonly used by the two tribes that are found in the nearby community as medicine for fever.
In the evening, you will be entertained by the traditional dances and music for the nearby tribes or coffee tours to the neighbouring plantations. And after dinner you will head to bed for a night and this will be the end of day one.
Day 2: Hiking Mount Elgon
Rise up early in the morning and be served with spiced tea or coffee depending on your choice and after head to the park headquarters for briefing and be assigned with a park ranger to guide you while hiking.
Another exiting adventure starts with your packed lunch in the bag, to hike mount Elgon as you pass through the bamboo forests, wildflowers and also view several butterflies, birds like bar-tailed trogon, grey throated barbet, mountain green bull, black and white casqued Hornbill among others.
After picnic lunch, proceed on a hike as you discover more about the beauty of this mountain and later descend back to the lodge/hotel where you will be served with dinner and later on head to bed which will be the end of day two.
Day 3: Explore the Sipi falls and depart to Kampala via Jinja
Have breakfast, continue on a legendary trek to Sipi falls and explore one of the most romantic waterfalls in Uganda.
Travel back to Kampala after that and a make an optional stopover in Jinja where you will head for a boat cruise that will take you to the source of R. Nile where the longest river starts its 5000 miles’ journey to Mediterranean Sea.
After that experience, proceed to Kampala and be dropped to the hotel or airport which will be the end of your 3 days Sipi falls and mount Elgon tour.
