Thinking of how the earth operates, start with this rewarding one-day safari to the Equator, a line that divides the earth into two, crossing only thirteen countries on earth namely; Uganda, Gabon, Indonesia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Colombia, Somalia, Ecuador, Republic of Congo, Brazil, Maldives, Sao tome and Principe, Kenya and Colombia.
You discover that when you have reached the point in which the equator line crosses, everything changes, the temperature rises and the gravitational force disappears; this magical demonstration is what you should not miss out. The imaginary line subdivides the earth into two, hemispheres- the northern and southern, reconciling the northern and southern pole to zero degrees.
Detailed Itinerary
Day one: Exploring the Equator and back to Kampala or Entebbe airport
Early in the morning, our expert driver-guide will pick you up from the agreed point after your breakfast, and brief you on everything you should expect during this excursion before driving off following the Mpigi – Masaka highway, on a very comfortable ride through a tarmac road while enjoying the fascinating view of the local homesteads scattered across the countryside, the green plantations and amazing hills to Kayabwe, a journey that lasts for approximately two hours.
Upon arriving at the destination, the equator guides will gladly welcome you, and happily take you to the demonstration point, showing you the point where the Equator (imaginary) line crosses. The site guide goes ahead to make some magical demonstrations through the assistance of water and magnetic fields, as you see how water will enter a whole in the clockwise direction, and the climax is when the water sinks to straight down at the zero degrees confirming that you are standing at the equator. The fact is that experience is the best teacher; expect this and more when you book this safari.
You are free to ask any form of question and also need to be informed that midday of 21st March, and 23rd September, it is very hard for anyone at the imaginary line to see their shadows since you will be light; so mark these dates and experience it for yourself.
Thereafter, take memorable photos at the equator and surrounding places, buy some souvenirs and artifacts at the nearby craft shops and have a very delicious lunch before driving back to your residence or Hotel in Kampala.
