You will enjoy a safe ride to the montane forest of Nyungwe National Park, to visit your cousins the chimpanzees, co-existing with other primates such as the Rwenzori Colobus monkeys, enjoy a city tour and end the amazing trip on the shores of Lake Kivu, Rwanda’s Freshwater lake.
The trip starts and ends in Kigali, Rwanda.
Day One: Pickup, City tour and Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National park
Early in the morning, our expert driver-guide will be glad to either welcome you at the agreed point in Kigali or the airport. You will be briefed on how the travel program will flow while spelling out some of the acceptable behaviors you have to know especially if it is your first time to visit Rwanda, but, the language used in either English, French or Kiswahili.
After the Briefing, you will tour Kigali city, have lunch and drive to Nyungwe Forest national park, which enjoys some of the unforgettable scenic views, slanting Hills and the evergreen vegetation. On arrival, refresh, have dinner then end the day with an overnight
Day Two: Chimpanzee Trekking and afternoon Canopy Walk
After having a tasty breakfast, drive to Nyungwe forest national park headquarters for an encounter with several primates including the chimpanzees, black and white Columbus monkeys and others in the lush montane forest, which harbors over 13 different primate species.
Start with a pre-trekking briefing session that commences at 8:00 am with a knowledgeable park ranger taking you through the dos and don’ts while at the park. Thereafter, head to the jungles under the guidance of a park ranger who will be tracing for the creatures from the spot they last left them, this can last for up to 5hours, plus one hour of allowance for you to watch the creatures interact, mothers nurse the young ones and so on.
Return for lunch, rest a bit and then head out for a Two-hour canopy walk experience on top of the magically suspended canopy that gives you a clear view of the park, monkeys jumping on top of the tree branches and the different beautiful butterflies. Return for dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Kivu and Boat ride
On this day, you will have breakfast, and check out of the lodge for a 2-3-hour drive to Lake Kivu, Rwanda’s largest freshwater lake. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge, have lunch, and later explore Lake Kivu on a canoe, enjoying the tranquil environment with rare bird species and several marine species. End the day with dinner and overnight at the resort overlooking the lake.
Day 4: Visit Gisakura Tea estate and Depart to Kigali city
A cup of coffee will be ready by the time you wake up, enjoy it and checkout of the lodge, making a stopover at Gisakura Tea estate, where you will be taught how tea is made and processed. Afterwards, proceed with the drive to Kigali international airport or your accommodation.
