Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Entebbe Airport and Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park
The safari begins with the arrival at the airport. Then the tour guide picks you up, briefs you about the whole tour and journey. After, embark on a journey to Kidepo Valley National Park using the Gulu-Kitgum route. The park is one of Africa’s prime wilderness located in the north corner of Karamoja. Kidepo also shares some part of South Sudan and Kenya.
Therefore, while in Kidepo National Park you get to enjoy a breeze from three countries. Something else is wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, lions, buffaloes, cheetahs, Elands, stripped hyenas, ostriches, leopards etc. Undertake an evening game drive in the park depends on the arrival time at the park.
Day 2: Early Morning Drive to the Hot Springs and Community Visits in the Evening
Have an early morning game drive to the Kanangorok hot springs which are next to the South Sudan boarder. Before reaching the destination, view the nocturnal species before they go back to their hiding places. These include bush duikers, leopards, and as well ostriches in the Kidepo valley. Lastly, the hot springs have a noticeably beautiful scenery due to the different vegetation color that surrounds it.
Later after the afternoon meals pay a visit to the nearby community village known as Lorukul village. This is where you experience a unique way of life of the people living in this area. Get exposed to their culture. For example what they eat, how they relate with others, marriage and their dances and what they represent. And an evening game drive in the Narus valley as you return from the community.
Day 3: Depart to Murchison Falls N/park
Early morning game drive as you depart to Murchison Falls National Park after a heavy breakfast from the lodge. The park is the largest and eldest protected area in the country. It covers an area of 3,893 square kilometers and bisected by the Nile River. This flows quietly across the rift valley floor into Lake Albert. You will enter the park using the northern route, through Wankwar gate via Gulu – Kitgum highway. You will be welcomed by large herds of antelopes, giraffes, elephants
Day 4: Game drive through the Albert Nile route, Boat Cruise and Hike to the Top of the Falls.
Early morning game drives so as not to miss out on the cats for example the lion, cheetah and as well the hippos on the other side of the Nile. Then later on a boat cruise on the Nile River as you see different reptile’s sun bathing for example crocodiles and you can still view some hippos and elephants at a distance on the shores of R. Nile.
Then as you approach the falls you hike to top of the falls where you will see a splendor splash as the water squeezes through the 8m wide Gorge and plunges with a thunderous roar into the devil’s cauldron creating a trade mark permanent rainbow.
Day 5: Depart to Kampala with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Have a heavy breakfast then embark on a journey back to Kampala city with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. In the sanctuary, trek the rhinos as you enjoy the history told by the officials. They were recently re-introduced in Uganda after they were poached during Amin’s government. You can spot Uganda kobs, oribis, among others while on the trek. Lunch is enroute and will be served immediately after the trek at Ziwa campsite. After, proceed to Kampala where you will spend your evening. You might take a night life in the capital city of Uganda after dinner.
Day 6: Tour around Kampala city
Have a tour around Kampala city as you visit the Namugongo martyrs’ shrine. This is where 45 Christians chose death over denouncing their faith. Make a second visit to Owino market to see how the local people participate in different market activities. Also, visit the Uganda museum and get to know about the history and culture of Uganda. Leanr how this has changed from time to time.
Thereafter, you will have a glimpse of the clock tower as you head to Entebbe town.
Day 7: Tour around Entebbe town and drop off at the airport
Enjoy a morning breakfast, and go for a visit to the Uganda reptile village. This is for exposure to different reptiles that include snakes, crocodiles and tortoises.
Visit Kigungu landing site where the first missionaries that entered Uganda landed. See the church built after them as well as where they first set their foot. Your tour driver will drop you off at the airport. From there fly back home which will conclude the 7 days budget Uganda safari.
